This solid teak 19th-century Indian almirah cabinet has expertly carved sunburst panels that are an excellent example of the Indo-Portuguese blend of styles. Layers of old blue paint give this piece a wonderful depth of character.
The core Portuguese occupation did not expand beyond Southern India, however, these cabinets can be found in Gujarat further north showing how trade and styles transcended regional borders.
Inside there are two sturdy shelves with front carvings as well as two drawers in the lower section.
